On 20 – 21 February 2017 in Paton Welding Institute Training and Qualification Centre welders of combined welding were tested to prove their professional skills.
Successful candidates could apply to be involved in steel plant construction project in Algeria.
As a test sample candidates were asked to weld a pipe, steel type 20, ND 89 mm and wall thickness 11 mm. According to Client’s WPS, the 1st and 2nd passes were performed by GTAW welding method (141) and filling and cap – by SMAW welding method (111).
During 2 days 18 specialists were tested, welded joints were visually inspected by a welding engineer – a representative of an Italian Client, and were exposed to radiographic quality control according to ISO 17636.
